After-school learning circles: a model villages can replicate

Learning circles need little infrastructure: a courtyard, chalk, and consistent adults. Children practise reading and maths in mixed-age groups guided by older peers.

Mother volunteers track attendance with a shared notebook. Continuity — not perfection — predicts progress. In Rajasthan centres, this approach raised term continuity significantly within a year.

Replication works when facilitators train local hosts and leave behind a routine the village can run between NGO visits.
